ATE (Automated Test Engineer)

Role Summary

This role assembles, tests, and troubleshoots mechanical, electrical, and optical assemblies used in semiconductor manufacturing equipment. The ATE works on the production floor as the technical reference for Production, supporting product qualification, test execution, data collection, and process improvements.

The position interfaces with Quality, Engineering, Production, and Sales, contributes to new product introduction and tool qualification, and supports continuous improvement efforts.

Experience Level

Entry-level. Guidance: 1–3 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include hands-on assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and cross-team collaboration.

  • Assemble and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and optical assemblies and subsystems.
  • Execute tests and collect data to validate parts, processes, and tools.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing and Design Engineers on new product introduction and tool qualification.
  • Create and execute test plans; document results and prepare technical reports with recommendations.
  • Recommend updates to work instructions, checklists, and troubleshooting guides to improve manufacturability and quality.
  • Deliver training to assemblers and technicians and serve as a technical reference for Production.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and test new processes as directed.

  • Hands-on experience with assembly and troubleshooting of mechanical/electrical/optical systems in a production environment.
  • Experience executing tests, collecting and recording process data, and following technical procedures.
  • Ability to read, follow, and suggest improvements to technical documentation.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to train small groups.
  • Comfort working on a manufacturing floor and collaborating across Quality, Engineering, and Production teams.
  • Nice-to-have: familiarity with new product introduction, test plan development, and continuous improvement/lean manufacturing methods.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (strongly preferred). Experience guidance: 1–3 years of related experience as stated by the employer. No specific certifications were required or mentioned. Equivalent practical experience was not explicitly referenced.
