ASIC Verification Engineer - New College Grad 2026

Role Summary

Verify SoC/GPU designs and their firmware/hardware interactions with a focus on memory subsystem units and related IP. Contribute to verification infrastructure, define verification scope, and work across teams to ensure design correctness.

Experience Level

Entry-level — new college graduate. Typical candidates are pursuing or recently completed a degree; approximately 0–2 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Define verification scope and develop verification plans for assigned subsystems.
  • Develop and maintain verification infrastructure and reusable verification components.
  • Create and execute testbenches using random stimulus, functional coverage, and assertions.
  • Verify firmware and hardware/firmware interactions; debug issues across RTL and firmware.
  • Collaborate with architects, designers, and software engineers to close verification tasks.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • Understanding of verification methodologies and reusable verification component development.
  • Experience with random stimulus, functional coverage, and assertion-based verification.
  • Proficiency in SystemVerilog and object-oriented verification techniques.
  • Familiarity with simulation and debug tools (for example, VCS, Debussy, GDB) and methodologies such as UVM.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Verification experience with high-speed I/O protocols or memory coherence.
  • Experience debugging embedded firmware (C or RISC-V assembly); knowledge of RISC-V or embedded microcontrollers.
  • Experience writing verification plans and strong verification intuition.

Education Requirements

Pursuing or recently completed a BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
