ASIC Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for verification of VLSI/ASIC designs within a product engineering team. Works across design, validation and testing phases, collaborates with internal and outsourced partners, and mentors junior engineers.
Hybrid role with an expectation of approximately two days per week on-site at an HPE office.
Experience Level
Mid-level β requires 3+ years of VLSI verification experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include verification planning and execution, cross-functional collaboration, and representing the verification discipline across VLSI development projects.
- Develop and execute verification plans using SystemVerilog, UVM, and related toolchains.
- Verify and debug ASIC/VLSI components, integrated circuits, architectures, and algorithms.
- Collaborate with design, EDA, FPGA, and external development partners to ensure reliable and cost-effective solutions.
- Communicate design status, project progress, and issue resolution to management and stakeholders.
- Participate in all phases of VLSI development and represent the team on larger, complex projects.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 3+ years of VLSI verification experience using SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Strong knowledge of digital logic, VLSI principles, and computer architecture.
- Proven experience verifying and debugging ASIC/VLSI components and integrated circuits.
- Proficiency with programming/scripting languages, hardware description languages, and EDA or FPGA tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; effective written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and collaborate across teams; may act as project lead.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with prototype-to-production VLSI flows and a breadth of EDA toolchain knowledge.
- Prior experience mentoring or leading small engineering teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
