ASIC Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Design and execute verification plans for ASIC/VLSI components as part of a cross-functional hardware engineering team. The role focuses on developing and running SystemVerilog/UVM testbenches, debugging designs, and coordinating verification activities with internal and external development partners.
Position is hybrid (average 2 days/week onsite) and supports the delivery of reliable, production-quality VLSI solutions for HPE platforms.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The role expects approximately 3+ years of relevant VLSI verification experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include planning and executing verification tasks, communicating status, and mentoring junior engineers.
- Develop and maintain SystemVerilog/UVM testbenches and verification environments.
- Plan and execute verification strategies for ASIC/VLSI blocks and subsystems.
- Debug functional and integration issues using simulation and lab tools.
- Collaborate with design, validation, and EDA/FPGA partners to resolve issues and close verification coverage.
- Report design and verification status to management and stakeholders.
- Participate in requirements review, architecture review, and release activities for VLSI projects.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- 3+ years of VLSI verification experience using SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Proven experience verifying and debugging digital ASIC/VLSI components and integrated circuits.
- Strong understanding of digital logic, VLSI verification methodology, and computer architecture.
- Practical experience with hardware description languages, scripting/programming (e.g., Python, Perl, C/C++), and EDA/FPGA tools.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Experience coordinating with internal and outsourced development partners and working as an independent project contributor.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Coursework or formal training in VLSI design/verification is noted as relevant.
