Job Title

ASIC Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Work on verification and validation of ASIC/VLSI designs as part of HPE's VLSI engineering team. Collaborate with internal and outsourced development partners to ensure reliable, cost-effective, production-ready silicon. This role expects an average of two days per week in an HPE office (hybrid).

Experience Level

Mid-level. Requires 3+ years of VLSI verification experience, particularly with SystemVerilog and UVM.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include verification planning, testbench development, debugging, and cross-team coordination for VLSI projects.

  • Lead verification activities for ASIC/VLSI components across design, validation, and testing phases.
  • Develop and execute verification plans, testbenches, and directed and randomized tests.
  • Use SystemVerilog/UVM-based environments and EDA tools to verify functionality and coverage.
  • Debug simulation and silicon issues, perform root-cause analysis, and drive fixes.
  • Communicate design and verification status to management and partners; coordinate with internal and outsourced teams.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.

  • 3+ years of VLSI verification experience using SystemVerilog and UVM.
  • Proven experience verifying and debugging ASIC/VLSI designs and architectures.
  • Strong knowledge of digital logic, VLSI principles, and computer architecture.
  • Proficiency with hardware description languages, scripting/programming, and EDA/FPGA tool flows.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Experience collaborating with internal and outsourced development partners; ability to lead verification tasks.
  • Preferred: experience with FPGA prototyping, system-level verification, or silicon bring-up.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Coursework or background in VLSI design/VLSI concepts is expected.
