ASIC Physical Design, Sr Staff Engineer
Role Summary
Senior staff engineer in ASIC physical design based in Ho Chi Minh City responsible for leading physical implementation and signoff activities for complex ASIC/SoC projects.
The role partners with RTL, timing, verification, and CAD teams to deliver timing-closed, manufacturable designs and to improve physical design flows and automation.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typically requires extensive hands-on ASIC physical design experience at a senior or staff level.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead physical implementation (floorplanning, placement, clock tree synthesis, routing) and timing closure for ASIC/SoC blocks.
- Drive signoff activities and ensure manufacturability, power, and signal-integrity targets are met.
- Develop and maintain P&R flows and automation scripts to improve productivity and quality.
- Collaborate with RTL designers, STA, verification, DFT and CAD teams to identify and resolve issues toward tapeout readiness.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and contribute to process and tool improvements.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Proven experience in ASIC physical design including place-and-route and timing closure.
- Hands-on experience with commercial EDA place-and-route and timing analysis tools.
- Experience writing automation scripts (Tcl, Python, Shell) and integrating tools into flows.
- Strong debugging and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Effective communication skills in English for collaboration with global teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with signoff tools, DFT insertion, low-power techniques, and methodology development.
- Proven track record mentoring teams and leading technical projects.
