ASIC Implementation Engineer (CAD)

Role Summary

Join Meta's Infrastructure Silicon team in Austin to develop CAD methodologies and automation that take designs from RTL through physical signoff for data-center ASICs. The role focuses on tooling, floorplanning, and automation to enable efficient tape-outs of next-generation infrastructure chips.

You will collaborate with architecture, RTL design, verification, and physical design teams to deliver production-grade CAD platforms and engineering analysis tools.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early career - approximately 2 years of relevant experience expected.

Responsibilities

Deliver and maintain CAD platforms, automation, and tools that support ASIC implementation.

• Design, develop, and maintain production CAD platforms and web-based design tools for silicon exploration and analysis.
• Build data models, algorithms, and Python APIs to process large design datasets and improve runtimes compared with native EDA solutions.
• Develop tooling for SoC floorplanning, early area estimation, and floorplan exploration.
• Create debug features for logical and physical connectivity analysis using DEF and netlist data to optimize timing and area.
• Automate front-end methodologies and collaborate with design, DV, architecture, and physical design teams for handoffs and feedback.

Requirements

Must-have skills for this role and a few desirable additions.

• Must-have: Approximately 2 years experience in synthesis and physical design.
• Must-have: Proficiency in Python for algorithm development and automation.
• Must-have: Experience developing CAD/EDA tools and engineering automation.
• Must-have: Practical knowledge of RTL synthesis, physical design flows, and PPA optimization.
• Must-have: Experience with DEF, netlists, LEF/DEF parsing, and floorplanning data.
• Must-have: Strong software engineering fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, API design).
• Nice-to-have: Experience with multi-chiplet connectivity, 2.5D/3D SoIC assembly, or runtime optimization against EDA flows.
• Nice-to-have: Experience building web-based engineering applications and interactive visualization frameworks.
