Job Title

ASIC/FPGA Verification Engineer (Associate, Experienced, or Lead) — Southern California

Role Summary

Work on ASIC and FPGA verification for Boeing Electronic Products, supporting programs in El Segundo or Huntington Beach, CA. Develop verification environments, testbenches, coverage models, and regression infrastructure for complex digital SoCs and FPGA designs used across space, avionics, and other Boeing domains.

The role is available at multiple seniority levels (Associate, Experienced, Lead); level and responsibilities will align with candidate experience and program needs.

Experience Level

Open to Associate (Level 2 — typically ~2+ years), Experienced (Level 3 — typically ~5+ years), or Lead (Level 4 — typically ~9–10+ years). Level will be assigned based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

Primary verification responsibilities include developing UVM/SystemVerilog environments, coverage, and regression infrastructure; supporting FPGA prototyping; and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet program requirements.

  • Design and implement ASIC/FPGA verification environments using UVM and SystemVerilog.
  • Develop self-checking, reusable testbenches employing object-oriented principles (inheritance, polymorphism).
  • Build drivers, monitors, predictors, and scoreboards within UVM testbenches.
  • Create functional coverage models and perform code-coverage analysis; run regressions and collect coverage metrics.
  • Support FPGA-based prototyping and validation based on program/system requirements.
  • Collaborate with design and system engineering to align verification strategies with project goals and schedules.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and program constraints. Preferred skills are noted when appropriate.

  • Proven experience in ASIC/FPGA verification processes and delivery of production designs.
  • Expertise in SystemVerilog and SystemVerilog Assertions; practical UVM experience.
  • Ability to design and implement test plans and self-checking, reusable testbenches from the ground up.
  • Experience developing functional coverage models and driving code-coverage closure.
  • Familiarity with waveform debug tools and hardware-based integration/testing.
  • Experience with revision control systems (svn, cvs, git) and working in Linux environments.
  • Proficiency with scripting (Make, Perl, Python) is commonly expected and preferred.
  • Experience with hardware emulators (e.g., Palladium) and high-speed SerDes interfaces (JESD204C, PCIe, Ethernet) is desirable.
  • Familiarity with space-based design techniques and radiation mitigation is desirable.
  • U.S. export-control requirement: candidate must be a U.S. Person; ability to obtain U.S. security clearance required. Employer will not sponsor work visas.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree required (examples: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical, Aeronautical, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry) or equivalent non-U.S. qualification or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree in EE, Computer Engineering/Science, or related field is preferred. ABET accreditation is preferred but not required. Typical experience expectations by level: Associate ~2+ years, Experienced ~5+ years, Lead ~9+ years.
