Job Title
ASIC & FPGA Design Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for end-to-end FPGA and ASIC design for Advanced Programs in Orlando, FL. Work with cross-functional teams to define architecture, implement HDL, verify functionality and timing, and deliver production-ready hardware designs.
Focus areas include specification and architecture, verification and validation, power/thermal analysis, and producing complete design packages for release and design-assurance review.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Years of experience not specified.
Responsibilities
The role's core responsibilities include:
- Develop detailed FPGA/ASIC specifications and high-level architecture using VHDL, Verilog, and/or SystemVerilog.
- Perform functional and timing verification; create testbenches and simulation plans.
- Conduct trade-off studies to select FPGA families or ASIC processes considering utilization, power, thermal, cost, and schedule.
- Collaborate with software, hardware, and systems teams to define interface requirements and integration strategies.
- Perform power and thermal budget analyses and maintain models and dashboards to meet mission-critical limits.
- Create and maintain complete design data packages for Design Assurance reviews and design release.
- Provide technical input to system-level architecture and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and tools:
- HDL programming experience (VHDL, Verilog, and/or SystemVerilog) and experience with FPGA simulation tools.
- Experience with version control systems (for example, Git).
- Experience with multiple FPGA vendors (Altera/Intel, Microchip/Microsemi, Xilinx) or ASIC design flows.
- Proficiency in software languages commonly used for embedded and verification tasks (C, C++, Python).
- Experience debugging and troubleshooting complex digital systems and verification environments.
- Familiarity with UVM and UVM-based verification methodologies.
- Familiarity with the Design Assurance process.
Nice-to-have: prior experience on advanced or mission-critical hardware programs; specific vendor toolchain or ASIC process experience.
