ASIC Engineer, Project Leo

Role Summary

The ASIC Engineer will design, verify, and validate custom ASICs for Amazon's Project Leo low Earth orbit satellite network, focusing on performance, power, and area for consumer satellite hardware. The role is on a cross-functional hardware and software team developing satellite and user-terminal silicon to provide reliable internet connectivity to underserved areas. This is a full-time, onsite position in Sunnyvale, CA.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities span RTL design through post-silicon validation and automation.

  • Perform RTL logic design, verification, and debugging.
  • Execute post-silicon validation and hardware bring-up activities.
  • Collaborate with physical design teams to meet timing, area, and power targets.
  • Translate system and software requirements into hardware design specifications.
  • Develop and maintain design automation flows and verification infrastructure.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • Proven experience in RTL coding and debugging (SystemVerilog preferred).
  • Proficiency in C/C++ for firmware, validation, or tooling.
  • Experience with performance, power, and area (PPA) analysis.
  • Familiarity with modern ASIC/FPGA design and verification toolflows.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills for silicon and system-level issues.
  • Effective written and verbal communication; ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-have: prior experience with post-silicon validation, design automation development, or satellite/embedded systems.

Education Requirements
