Job Title
ASIC Engineer, Infrastructure Specialist
Role Summary
The ASIC Engineer, Infrastructure Specialist will architect, design, build and test low-level firmware and boot software for data-center ASIC platforms. The role partners with silicon architects, hardware designers, OS and algorithm teams to deliver BootROM through device drivers and RTOS-based platform firmware.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The role expects experienced engineers (6+ years) in embedded systems and firmware development.
Responsibilities
You will lead firmware design and implementation across ASIC development phases and act as the technical escalation point for complex firmware issues.
- Design and develop secure bootloaders and BootROM for next-generation data-center SoCs.
- Lead embedded software engineering efforts and provide technical guidance to team members.
- Analyze, design, develop, and debug firmware for custom SoCs, including performance analysis and testing.
- Support hardware development phases: requirements, firmware architecture, simulation, FPGA debug, chip bring-up.
- Collaborate with silicon architects, hardware, OS, and algorithm teams to define and execute long-term roadmaps.
- Implement power management, scheduling, inter-processor communication, and firmware/system interfaces on RTOS or bare-metal platforms.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate impact.
- 6+ years of embedded system development experience, including C programming for development, debugging and testing.
- Experience in BootROM, bootloaders and secure boot development.
- Platform firmware experience for complex SoCs and embedded hardware platforms.
- Hands-on exposure to clock-level issues, interrupts, and polling on embedded systems.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with scripting (Python) for tooling and test automation.
- Experience with RTOS (preferably Zephyr) and embedded Linux.
- Experience leading cross-team features or projects and delivering end-to-end product solutions.
- SoC block understanding, board bring-up experience, and peripheral driver experience (PCIe, UART, I2C, SPI).
- Experience using lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, logic/protocol analyzers) for hardware-level debugging.
Education Requirements
B.S. degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
