Job Title

ASIC Engineer 2

Role Summary

Design and architect controller-level ASIC features and collaborate with design, verification, physical implementation, and system teams. The role evaluates implementation trade-offs and ensures delivered logic meets performance, area, and power targets.

Works with other ASIC architects, system architects, product teams, and third-party IP providers to define feature sets, review implementations, and support silicon bring-up and debugging.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include defining requirements, reviewing implementations, and improving design quality and practices.

  • Define requirements for ASIC design, verification, and physical implementation teams.
  • Evaluate area, performance, power, and implementation effort trade-offs between solutions.
  • Review product and firmware requirements and translate them into controller and IP-level specifications.
  • Collaborate with ASIC and system architects to define feature sets and data/control flows.
  • Review and configure third-party IP and verify integration.
  • Support other ASIC teams with design reviews, documentation, and code reviews.
  • Support product teams during silicon debug and validation.
  • Analyze performance of controller components and subsystems and suggest architectural or microarchitectural improvements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Scripting/programming: Perl, Python, C, or Unix shell scripting.
  • Hardware description languages: Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL.
  • RTL design and verification experience.
  • Knowledge of physical design aspects such as layout, static timing analysis, or power optimization.

Education Requirements

Employer will accept a Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a related field.
