ASIC Digital Design Staff Engineer
Role Summary
Staff-level engineer on the ASIC Digital Design team based in Porto Salvo, Portugal. Responsible for leading front-end digital design efforts, coordinating with verification and physical-design teams, and delivering production-ready RTL for complex ASIC projects.
This role includes technical leadership, architecture and microarchitecture contributions, cross-team collaboration, and mentoring of junior engineers.
Experience Level
Senior (Staff). Typically a staff-level engineer with significant experience in ASIC digital design; recommended ~8+ years of relevant industry experience or equivalent.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership and hands-on digital design delivery.
- Lead RTL design and microarchitecture for ASIC blocks and subsystems.
- Define and review design specifications, interfaces, and timing requirements.
- Collaborate closely with verification, synthesis, timing-closure, and physical-design teams to achieve tapeout readiness.
- Perform code review, design-for-test, and troubleshooting of implementation issues.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers; drive best practices and design consistency across projects.
- Participate in project planning, milestone tracking, and post-silicon debug support as needed.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience, followed by desirable additions.
- Must-have: Significant experience in ASIC digital design, including RTL development in Verilog/SystemVerilog, synthesis flows, and timing analysis.
- Must-have: Practical experience with EDA tools for synthesis, STA, and simulation; strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Must-have: Experience working in cross-functional teams and delivering to tapeout schedules.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with low-power design techniques, formal verification, or SoC-level integration.
- Nice-to-have: Scripting skills (Python, TCL) and familiarity with system-level verification methodologies.
