Job Title

ASIC Design Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Design Verification engineer on the ASIC team responsible for pre-silicon and silicon verification to ensure ASICs meet requirements for features, performance, and reliability. Works with software, architecture, design, and verification teams across simulation, emulation, formal verification, and silicon validation.

Office-based role expected in the office four days per week (one flexible day remote); position located in Santa Clara, CA.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” minimum 3 years experience in ASIC design verification.

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities include planning and executing verification activities across multiple platforms and improving verification infrastructure.

  • Define verification methodologies and architect test benches.
  • Create and execute simulation test plans using coverage-driven, constrained-random approaches.
  • Develop emulation flows; create, run, and debug emulation tests.
  • Apply formal verification and participate in silicon validation, bring-up, and debugging.
  • Develop automation and tooling in Python, Perl, and shell for triage, coverage closure, and regression.
  • Collaborate with system architects, software engineers, and ASIC designers to close coverage and resolve issues.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in ASIC design verification with a record of shipping ASIC products to production.
  • Expertise in SystemVerilog and UVM.
  • Experience defining test plans, building self-checking infrastructure, writing constrained-random tests, and creating functional coverage models.
  • Strong debugging skills and ability to close coverage.
  • Ability to develop scalable, modular test benches and reference models/scoreboards.
  • Proficiency in Python for automation; experience with C/C++ and driver code is preferred.
  • Strong ownership, independence, collaboration, and communication skills.

Education Requirements

BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science required, or equivalent military experience; MSEE preferred.
