Job Title

ASIC Design Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Plan, build, and execute verification for AMD wired networking IP, working across architects, hardware, firmware, and software teams to deliver a bug-free final design. The role focuses on creating test plans, implementing directed and random tests, and driving defect resolution in a hybrid, cross-site environment.

Experience Level

Mid-level (no specific years-of-experience stated).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include functional verification of IP, test development, and cross-team integration to ensure product quality and delivery.

  • Plan and execute verification activities for wired networking IP at the IP/ASIC level.
  • Collaborate with architects, hardware, firmware, and software teams to define verification scope and requirements.
  • Create test plans that consider hardware, firmware, and software driver interactions.
  • Estimate verification effort for new features and environment changes.
  • Develop directed and random tests and UVM-based testbenches.
  • Debug test failures and coordinate with RTL and firmware teams to resolve defects.
  • Review functional and code coverage and adjust tests or constraints to meet coverage goals.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role; a few preferred items are listed separately.

  • Must-have: Proven IP-level ASIC verification experience and debugging RTL using simulation tools.
  • Expertise in UVM concepts, SystemVerilog, and developing UVM-based verification frameworks.
  • Proficiency with UVM testbenches and experience working in Linux and Windows environments.
  • Scripting experience: Perl, Python, Makefile, shell scripting.
  • Experience with automation in distributed compute environments.
  • Ability to write test plans, estimate effort, and drive cross-functional defect resolution.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of networking protocols (Ethernet, UAL, LLR, CBFC) and experience with AI tools.
