Job Title

ASIC Design Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Plan, build, and execute verification for AMD's wired networking IP to deliver a bug-free final design. Work in a hybrid, cross-site environment collaborating with architects, hardware, firmware, and software teams to verify new features and ensure correct integration across components.

Experience Level

Mid-level. No specific years of experience stated.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include verification planning, test development, and defect resolution:

  • Plan and execute IP-level ASIC verification for wired networking blocks.
  • Collaborate with architects, RTL, firmware, and software teams to define verification scope and interfaces.
  • Create test plans that consider hardware, firmware, and driver interactions.
  • Estimate effort for new-feature tests and test-environment changes.
  • Develop directed and constrained-random verification tests.
  • Debug test failures using simulation tools and coordinate fixes with RTL and firmware owners.
  • Review functional and code coverage; modify tests or constraints to meet coverage goals.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and preferred additions are listed below.

  • Must-have: IP-level ASIC verification experience.
  • Expertise in SystemVerilog and UVM concepts; experience with UVM testbenches.
  • Proven RTL debugging using simulation tools.
  • Experience developing UVM-based verification frameworks, flows, and processes.
  • Familiarity with Linux and Windows verification environments.
  • Scripting experience: Python, Perl, shell, and Makefile skills.
  • Experience with coverage-driven verification and creating test plans.
  • Nice-to-have: Exposure to automation in distributed compute environments, knowledge of networking protocols (Ethernet, UAL, LLR, CBFC), and experience with AI tools.

Education Requirements
