Job Title
APTM Yield Analysis/Device Engineer
Role Summary
Work in the Advanced Packaging Technology and Manufacturing (APTM) Yield Group to identify and drive yield and defect improvements across packaging technologies through data analysis, statistical methods, and process understanding.
The role partners with process, integration, test, and product engineering to define and implement corrective actions from development through high-volume manufacturing.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The posting specifies candidates with multiple years of relevant experience (see Education Requirements for degree and years combinations); typical experience range is 3β7 years.
Responsibilities
Deliver yield improvements by analyzing manufacturing, test, and inline metrology data and driving cross-functional corrective actions.
- Analyze large structured and unstructured datasets using statistical methods and machine learning to identify yield and defect drivers.
- Develop and validate solutions using manufacturing, sort/test, and inline metrology knowledge.
- Drive recommendations and influence the yield-improvement roadmap across teams and functions.
- Interpret relationships between electrical and physical failures (FIFA, DFT, Sort/Test, integration/process flow).
- Work with inline defect metrology and understand detection capabilities and defect systems.
- Develop and maintain data pipelines, databases, and visualizations to support analysis and reporting.
- Prepare clear, timely reports summarizing yield and device health; present findings to stakeholders.
- Coordinate technology development, transfer, and ramp into high-volume manufacturing (HVM).
- Some domestic and international travel as required.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, relevant experience, and behavioral traits for success in the role.
- Proven experience in data analysis using JMP, Python, or similar data-engineering tools (the posting specifies 5+ years of data-analysis experience).
- Strong statistical analysis skills and experience applying data-driven methods to manufacturing problems.
- Experience with data manipulation, datamining, databases, and data visualization tools.
- Familiarity with test/sort data, DFT, and process integration concepts relevant to yield analysis.
- Ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries and influence cross-functional teams.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and presentation skills; attention to detail.
- Tolerance for ambiguity, flexibility in role/tasks and working hours, and a collaborative mindset.
Nice-to-have:
- Hands-on application of advanced statistical analysis and machine learning techniques.
- Demonstrated understanding of product design/circuit/architecture as it relates to yield.
- Prior experience with inline metrology capabilities and defect analysis.
Education Requirements
Minimum education options in the posting: Bachelor's degree with 4+ years relevant experience; OR Master's degree with 3+ years relevant experience; OR PhD in Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline. The posting also indicates requirements may be met via a combination of industry experience, internships, and coursework.
