Apps Engineer
Role Summary
Provide on-site application engineering to drive adoption and performance of KLA tools at customer sites. Responsibilities include creating and validating recipes, training operators and engineers, analyzing tool performance, and coordinating with Service, Technical Support, Applications, and Sales teams.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically 3β5 years of relevant experience based on degree (see Education Requirements for details).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Provide technical support and drive acceptance of new tools at customer sites; develop production recipes and Best Known Methods.
- Train customer operators and engineers on equipment operation and procedures.
- Analyze tool performance; lead problem-solving with Service and Technical Support organizations.
- Manage projects: set priorities, schedules, milestones, track progress, and report to stakeholders.
- Develop value propositions and concise project summaries for business unit and executive reviews.
- Maintain regular customer communication; present system value and differentiation versus competitors.
- Support pre-sales and go-to-market activities to assist sales and marketing in customer engagement.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes:
- Knowledge of advanced optics, physics, and material science.
- Solid understanding of semiconductor process technologies.
- Strong presentation, communication, and project-management skills; ability to handle multiple projects in parallel.
- Creative problem-solving and ability to develop unique solutions to meet customer requirements.
- Native-level Japanese (JLPT N1) and business-level English.
- Ability to work successfully in multicultural teams and perform under pressure.
Nice-to-have:
- IC process background or prior customer/industry experience.
Education Requirements
Master's degree plus 3 years of related work experience, or Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of related work experience. Preferred fields include Physics, Material Science, Optical or Electrical Engineering, or related semiconductor technical disciplines.
