Job Title

Applications Validation & Verification (AVV) Engineer

Role Summary

Design and execute system-level validation and verification tests for next-generation Automotive and Industrial SoC designs in the Advanced Technology Integration (ATI) group. Focus areas include functionality, performance (throughput, latency, MIPS), and power across pre-silicon emulation platforms and real silicon.

Work is bare-metal (C with some assembly); collaborate with systems, design, and validation teams and support field applications engineers.

Experience Level

Mid-level - typically requires around 5 years of engineering experience in silicon design and/or validation.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include creating and executing application-like tests, debugging on emulation and silicon, and documenting results and tools.

  • Define V&V targets with systems experts and produce test plans.
  • Implement tests in C (and some assembly) and automate with scripting as needed.
  • Debug tests and designs on pre-silicon emulation/FPGA platforms and on real silicon.
  • Measure and analyze performance and power (operational, idle, low-power modes).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with design and validation teams to resolve issues.
  • Document test flows, results, issues encountered, and tools developed.
  • Support FAEs and respond to customer technical questions.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and constraints; preferred skills listed separately.

  • Must-have: Approximately 5 years engineering experience working with silicon design and/or validation.
  • Experience with digital/embedded design on emulation platforms, FPGA platforms, or RTL simulation.
  • Proficient in C and comfortable with assembly; experience with bare-metal development (no OS).
  • Experience debugging on pre-silicon emulation platforms and on real silicon; ability to analyze digital waveforms.
  • Strong understanding of digital logic and computer architecture relevant to DDR interfaces and system interconnects.
  • Ability to produce clear test plans and documentation and to work cross-functionally.
  • U.S. work authorization required; Texas Instruments will not sponsor visas or work authorization for this position.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with DDR4/DDR5/LPDDR4/LPDDR5, cache/coherency validation, and pre-silicon power measurement.
  • Familiarity with hardware description languages, DSPs (C6x/C7x), TI SoCs, and automation/scripting (regular expressions).
  • Proficiency in C++ and advanced assembly; experience with performance metrics (MIPS, latency).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, ECE, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (Bachelor's degree required as listed in the posting).
