Role Summary

Provide hands-on technical support for customers using Synopsys physical design and verification tools, focusing on implementation flows from floorplanning through tapeout. The role is on the Applications Engineering team based in Ho Chi Minh City and works directly with customers and R&D to resolve technical issues and improve design outcomes.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early-career. The role targets engineers beginning their ASIC physical-design careers who have foundational digital-design skills and some scripting or Linux experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include customer-facing technical support, troubleshooting, and cross-team collaboration.

• Provide hands-on support for physical design flows: floorplanning, placement, CTS, routing, and timing closure.
• Own customer technical cases from investigation through resolution, including debugging and analyzing design data.
• Collaborate with R&D teams to escalate complex issues and validate fixes or feature changes.
• Help customers optimize implementation methodologies using Fusion Compiler, ICC2, and related signoff tools.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, application notes, and best-practice guides based on customer engagements.
• Build and maintain customer relationships through proactive follow-up and clear communication.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience; plus items are listed separately.

• Must-have: Understanding of ASIC physical-design methodologies (floorplanning, placement, CTS, routing, static timing analysis).
• Must-have: Working knowledge of Verilog and digital-design fundamentals.
• Must-have: Comfortable in Linux/Unix environments and able to use or learn scripting (Tcl, Python, Perl, Shell).
• Must-have: Strong English communication skills (written and verbal) for cross-region customer interactions.
• Nice-to-have: Exposure to Synopsys Fusion Compiler, ICC2, or related signoff tools.
• Nice-to-have: Prior application-engineering or customer-facing technical support experience for implementation flows.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. (Degree stated in source.)
