Applications Engineer | mmWave Radar

Role Summary

Provide applications and technical-support expertise for TI's 60/77 GHz mmWave radar portfolio, working with automotive and industrial customers to integrate TI radar devices into end systems. The role supports pre- and post-sales activities, EVM development, bench debugging, and creation of technical collateral.

Work closely with design, systems, marketing, quality and production test teams to launch products and resolve customer issues. Texas Instruments will not sponsor job applicants for visas or work authorization for this position.

Experience Level

Mid-level - typically requires 5+ years of relevant experience in RF/mmWave systems or similar roles.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include supporting customers, developing evaluation hardware and measurement flows, and coordinating internally to deliver product-ready solutions.

  • Integrate mmWave/RF radar devices into customer automotive and industrial systems and provide design guidance.
  • Design evaluation modules (EVMs), socket boards, and review customer schematics and PCB layouts for RF best practices.
  • Perform bench-level radar and host-processor measurements and recreate/debug returned silicon with cross-functional teams.
  • Project-manage EVM deliverables and coordinate with planners and internal systems (tools and processes).
  • Produce technical collateral: datasheets, errata, application notes, user guides, and technical reference material.
  • Provide end-to-end customer support and act as a technical bridge between customers, design teams, and manufacturing.
  • Support customer seminars and distributor training; promote product adoption by demonstrating solutions to customer design challenges.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience, plus preferred skills that improve fit.

  • Must-have: 5+ years of experience in RF/mmWave applications or related roles with proven technical accomplishments.
  • Must-have: Experience with PCB design tools such as Altium or Cadence and applying PCB best practices at RF frequencies.
  • Must-have: Strong knowledge of RF, analog, mixed-signal, and high-speed digital circuits.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience designing evaluation boards at mmWave frequencies and familiarity with RF transmission-line design and matching techniques.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with simulation and RF tools such as ANSYS HFSS, Keysight ADS, Allegro, MATLAB.
  • Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with lab instruments: spectrum/network analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers.
  • Nice-to-have: Strong analytical/problem-solving, communication, cross-functional collaboration, and time-management skills.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, ECE, Computer Engineering or equivalent degree; equivalent practical experience accepted.
