Applications Engineer – Atlas Explorer

Role Summary

Support customer adoption and business development for a pre-silicon/pre-RTL hybrid simulation and software performance tuning application targeting MIPS and RISC-V microprocessors. Work with customers during onboarding, support, and troubleshooting while contributing to product feature development and demo creation.

The role combines hands-on software development, performance analysis, and customer-facing support to increase product adoption and improve developer workflows.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include feature work, customer support, and championing new use cases.

  • Design, develop, and maintain application features that address customer needs and improve workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers to gather requirements and prioritize enhancements.
  • Test, debug, and perform performance analysis to ensure reliability and compatibility.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving code quality and team practices.
  • Support customer onboarding, integration with their development flows, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Create demos and support product marketing and evangelism efforts.
  • Use the tools as a customer to identify feature opportunities and drive adoption.

Requirements

Core skills and attributes required or strongly preferred.

  • Must-have: Strong programming fundamentals and hands-on experience supporting customers, development teams, or contributing to open-source projects.
  • Must-have: Interest in developer tools, IDEs, application frameworks, or simulation solutions; strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must-have: Curiosity about computer architecture, simulation, performance tuning, or low-level software systems.
  • Must-have: Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset; ability to learn new frameworks, APIs, and architectures quickly.
  • Nice-to-have: Direct experience with RISC-V or MIPS, performance analysis tooling, debugging/trace workflows, IDE/plugin development, or hybrid simulation tools.
  • Nice-to-have: Prior experience creating demos or supporting product marketing and customer-facing technical materials.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
