Job Title
Applications Engineer
Role Summary
Provide technical application support and product definition for RF/mmWave products, working with design, product, and marketing teams to launch and ramp new devices.
Perform characterization, evaluation-model design, and post-ramp customer support to resolve design and silicon issues.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The role requires hands-on RF engineering experience; the posting specifies around 3+ years of relevant RF work or laboratory experience.
Responsibilities
Key duties include:
- Collaborate with design, product definition and marketing teams to launch new products and create reference designs.
- Provide technical solutions and direct, timely support to customers to address design challenges.
- Design evaluation models (EVMs), socket boards, and review customer schematics and PCB layouts.
- Characterize devices and perform RF measurements in the lab during characterization and ramp phases.
- Debug returned silicon and coordinate resolution with Design, Product Engineering, Quality and Systems teams.
- Run signal-integrity simulations on reference designs and support antenna-related design work.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience (degree details are in Education Requirements below):
- Minimum ~3 years practical RF engineering experience, including work with mmWave frequencies (55+ GHz).
- Experience with electromagnetic simulation and antenna design.
- Hands-on laboratory experience performing RF measurements using network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power meters, phase-noise analyzers, signal generators and oscilloscopes.
- Proven ability to design EVMs, socket boards and independently create reference designs.
- Experience running signal-integrity simulations on reference designs and reviewing customer board layouts.
- Ability to debug returned silicon and work cross-functionally with design, PE, quality and systems teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Prior experience supporting product launches in a high-growth market or semiconductor environment.
Education Requirements
