Applications Engineer
Role Summary
The Applications Engineer provides technical support to customers using Qorvo RF and microwave products in defense and aerospace applications (Radar, EW, communications, space).
Work closely with sales, product line managers and design teams to recommend solutions, assist with design-in, produce documentation, and resolve customer issues.
Experience Level
Entry-level — preferred 1–3 years of relevant RF/Microwave experience as an Applications or Design Engineer.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide technical support for RF and microwave active and passive products across multiple applications.
- Support products for Radar, EW, communications, and space systems.
- Collaborate with customers, sales, and marketing to grow business in defense and aerospace markets.
- Determine and evaluate customer requirements and recommend suitable solutions; assist with system integration and design-in.
- Troubleshoot customer system implementations and provide corrective guidance.
- Create and maintain product datasheets, application notes, evaluation board documentation, and customer training materials.
- Support competitive technical analysis and benchmarking.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and capabilities:
- Practical experience using spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, load-pull setups and related RF test equipment.
- Ability to perform linear and nonlinear simulations using ADS or Microwave Office (MWO) CAD tools.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams.
- Proven troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently and in a team.
- Occasional travel required.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with GaN and GaAs RF/Microwave semiconductors and familiarity with power amplifiers, LNAs, phase shifters, limiters, converters, switches, and filters.
- Prior experience specifically as an Applications or Design Engineer in the RF/microwave industry.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required, with a focus on RF/Microwave technology.
