Job Title

Analog/Mixed-Signal Design Engineer

Role Summary

Member of the Edinburgh analog/mixed-signal design team responsible for architecture, transistor‑level design and verification of analog and mixed‑signal IP for precision, low‑power custom analog ICs. The role involves defining and implementing circuit solutions, supervising layout and verification, and presenting designs to internal and external stakeholders.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Specific years of experience not stated; role expects proven experience delivering complex analog/mixed‑signal designs.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include architecture, design, verification, and delivery of analog/mixed‑signal IP.

  • Architect, design and verify analog and mixed‑signal circuit blocks at transistor level to meet noise, distortion, power and cost targets.
  • Supervise layout implementation and perform post‑layout verification and sign‑off.
  • Develop and maintain documentation and present design reviews to internal teams and external customers.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve designs and methodologies and support integration of IP.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, tools experience, and professional attributes.

  • Proven analog and mixed‑signal IC design experience, preferably in nanometer CMOS technologies.
  • Experience defining and implementing transistor‑level circuit solutions for precision and low‑power requirements.
  • Familiarity with schematic, layout and simulation flows (for example Cadence Virtuoso) and post‑layout verification practices.
  • Experience with Spectre or other SPICE circuit simulators.
  • Good verbal and written communication and documentation skills; able to present to customers and internal reviewers.
  • Self‑motivated, team oriented, and willing to learn and improve design methodologies.
  • Nice-to-have: behavioral modelling of analog/digital circuits; experience supervising layout teams and integration activities.
  • Nice-to-have technical areas (experience in one or more): embedded power management (including BCD technologies), data converter design, amplifier design (LNAs, OTAs, PGAs), low‑power precision analog techniques.

Education Requirements

Candidate should hold a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Electronics or a related discipline (Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar).
