Analog IC Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and validate ultra-low-power analog and mixed-signal integrated-circuit blocks for wireless, battery-constrained devices. Work on circuits from schematic through layout, tapeout, silicon bring-up, and iterative revisions.

Team interaction spans analog, digital, verification, and lab characterization groups to deliver energy-efficient transceiver and power-management solutions.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical candidates have several years of analog IC design experience (roughly 3–7 years) with demonstrated tapeout and silicon bring-up experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver hands-on design, verification, layout review, and silicon characterization of ultra-low-power analog/mixed-signal blocks.

• Design bias/reference circuits, low-dropout regulators, oscillators/PLLs, and control loops at nanoamp bias currents.
• Address leakage, noise, offset, mismatch, and corner variations through design and analysis.
• Define power domains and power-management strategies for energy-efficient operation.
• Develop behavioral models (SystemVerilog, Verilog-AMS) and run mixed-signal simulations with digital designs.
• Oversee/layout review to minimize leakage and ensure matching; analyze parasitic-extracted results.
• Characterize silicon in the lab, correlate measurements with simulations, and feed results into design revisions.

Requirements

Essential technical skills and experience required for successful performance in this role.

• Proven track record taking analog blocks through tapeout and performing silicon bring-up.
• Proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso and Spectre or equivalent analog design and simulation tools, including corner and Monte Carlo analysis.
• Experience in mixed-signal design and verification; able to use SystemVerilog and Verilog-AMS for behavioral modeling and mixed-signal simulation.
• Deep understanding of subthreshold operation, leakage mechanisms, noise, offset, and device mismatch.
• Practical experience managing nanoamp bias currents and designing for low leakage across operating conditions.
• Hands-on layout review experience and ability to interpret parasitic-extracted results.
• Ability to write clear specifications and collaborate across analog, digital, verification, and lab teams.
• Nice to have: low-power RF/transceiver experience, energy-harvesting or battery-free system experience, and advanced-node CMOS low-leakage design experience.

Education Requirements

BS in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of analog IC design experience, MS with 3+ years, or a PhD (field: Electrical Engineering / analog/mixed-signal specialization). No additional certifications specified.
