Job Title
Analog Design Staff Engineer
Role Summary
Design and optimize transistor-level analog circuits for high-speed SerDes IP (equalizers, Clock Data Recovery circuits, transmit drivers). Collaborate with layout, verification, and customer teams to ensure signal integrity, manufacturability, and successful IP integration.
Experience Level
Senior level; minimum 5 years professional experience in analog circuit design with a focus on high-speed data communication systems.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include analog circuit design, simulation-based verification, documentation, and cross-discipline collaboration to support IP delivery.
- Design and optimize analog sub-blocks for high-speed SerDes IP: equalizers, CDRs, and transmit drivers.
- Perform transistor-level SPICE simulations with corner analysis and Monte Carlo verification across process, voltage, and temperature variations.
- Collaborate with layout engineering to minimize parasitic effects and preserve signal integrity through physical implementation.
- Present simulation results, design trade-offs, and performance analysis to internal teams and external customers.
- Produce detailed documentation of circuit functionality, verification coverage, and integration requirements for IP delivery.
- Develop test plans that translate circuit specifications into measurable verification objectives for post-silicon validation.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience required to perform successfully in this role.
- Minimum 5 years professional experience in analog circuit design for high-speed data communication systems.
- Technical expertise in analog sub-block specifications for equalizers, CDRs, and transmit drivers.
- Demonstrated proficiency with transistor-level SPICE simulation methodologies, including corner analysis and Monte Carlo verification.
- Proven experience collaborating with layout teams to manage parasitic effects and maintain signal integrity.
- Strong technical documentation skills and the ability to communicate complex circuit behavior and design rationale clearly to engineering and customer audiences.
- Ability to structure technical presentations and provide constructive feedback on specifications and verification strategies.
- Nice-to-have: hands-on experience with post-silicon validation and IP integration in customer environments.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field.
