Analog Design Principal Engineer - SerDes

Role Summary

The Analog Design Principal Engineer will drive the architecture and implementation of analog macro-level circuits for SerDes IP. This role involves collaborating with digital engineers and mentoring junior engineers, contributing to the overall performance and reliability of analog designs.

Experience Level

Senior, requiring a PhD with 7+ years or MSc with 10+ years of experience in SerDes/high-speed analog design.

Responsibilities

The principal engineer will:

• Own the architecture, design, and implementation of analog macro-level circuits for SerDes IP.
• Track and review the technical progress of sub-block owners.
• Interpret SerDes standards and develop detailed analog specifications.
• Identify circuit implementations optimizing for power, area, and performance.
• Propose design and verification strategies using advanced simulator features.
• Oversee physical layout to minimize parasitics and process variation impacts.
• Collaborate with digital RTL engineers on calibration and control algorithms.
• Present simulation data for peer and customer reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers and document design methodologies.
• Consult on electrical characterization and testing of circuits.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications include:

• PhD with 7+ years or MSc with 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Expertise in high-speed analog circuit design and CMOS fundamentals.
• Silicon-proven experience in TX, RX, and Clock paths.
• Leadership experience in guiding macro-level design projects.
• Knowledge of SerDes components such as equalizers, serializers, and PLLs.
• Advanced skills in optimizing FinFET CMOS layouts.
• Proficiency with EDA tools and SPICE simulators.
• Familiarity with programming in TCL, Perl, C, Python, and MATLAB.

Education Requirements

A PhD or MSc in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.
