Analog Design Intern (Summer 2027)
SynopsysJob Title
Analog Design Intern (Summer 2027)
Role Summary
Join the analog/mixed-signal design team contributing to high-speed SERDES DesignWare IP. The intern will work on transistor-level circuit design, performance optimization, and design methodology improvements using advanced FinFET process nodes and industry-standard EDA tools. This is a 16-month co-op starting May 2027 based in Mississauga with a hybrid work model.
Experience Level
Entry-level (intern/co-op).
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include circuit design, simulation, verification, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Design and simulate analog and mixed-signal circuits for high-speed SERDES IP using FinFET process nodes.
- Address performance optimization and implement design methodology improvements.
- Develop and validate SERDES sub-circuits: receive equalizers, data samplers, drivers, serializers/deserializers, VCOs, phase interpolators, DLLs/PLLs, bandgap references, ADCs, and DACs.
- Use EDA tools for schematic entry, physical layout, and design verification; perform behavioral modeling and simulation control.
- Collaborate with cross-functional designers and document design decisions and results.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes.
- Familiarity with transistor-level circuit design and CMOS design fundamentals.
- Knowledge of high-speed analog building blocks and SERDES sub-circuits.
- Basic experience with EDA tools for schematic entry, layout, and verification.
- Understanding of Verilog-A and/or SystemVerilog for analog behavioral modeling and simulation control.
- Strong communication and documentation skills; ability to work effectively in a team.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with scripting languages such as TCL, Perl, C, Python, or MATLAB for automation and data analysis.
- Prior experience with performance optimization or design methodology enhancements.
Education Requirements
Currently pursuing a Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical field; or senior-level undergraduate students in their final year of study.
