Analog Design Intern (Optical PHY)
Marvell TechnologyJob Title
Analog Design Intern (Optical PHY)
Role Summary
Join the Central Engineering – Optical PHY team to help design high-speed and optical transceivers for datacenter, long-haul, and AI infrastructure. The intern will support circuit design, simulation, and verification for CMOS transceivers and SERDES products.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship; suitable for current undergraduate or graduate students. Typical candidate is a student or early-career engineer.
Responsibilities
The intern will contribute to analog/mixed-signal circuit design and verification for optical transceivers.
- Interpret circuit specifications and system-level requirements.
- Assist in design and implementation of analog/mixed-signal blocks (PLLs, DLLs, ADCs, regulators, amplifiers, TX/RX circuits).
- Perform circuit-level simulations and design verification using industry-standard EDA tools.
- Collaborate with digital design, layout, and validation teams to ensure integration and successful tape-out.
- Participate in design reviews and maintain design documentation.
Requirements
Key skills and attributes required or strongly preferred for the role.
Must-have:
- Understanding of analog circuit fundamentals and semiconductor device physics.
- Practical experience with IC design tools and simulation environments (examples: Spectre, SPICE, MATLAB, Python).
- Ability to run detailed circuit simulations and assist in verification tasks.
- Good teamwork and communication skills; motivated and eager to learn.
- May require eligibility to access export-controlled technology; non-U.S. applicants may be subject to export license review.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with high-speed SERDES or optical transceiver circuits.
- Prior hands-on experience with layout or mixed-signal flow and tape-out processes.
Education Requirements
BEng or MSc student in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or equivalent; or equivalent practical experience in analog/mixed-signal IC design.
