Analog ASIC Electrical Engineer
QuantinuumJob Title
Analog ASIC Electrical Engineer
Role Summary
Design and deliver analog and mixed-signal ASICs for quantum computing systems. Work on transistor-level design, layout, verification, and integration into complex electrical subsystems, including operation in cryogenic and vacuum environments.
Experience Level
Mid-level - requires multiple years of professional IC design experience (see Requirements for specific years).
Responsibilities
Deliver ASIC designs from specification through silicon bring-up and support R&D program goals.
- Lead ASIC design efforts for quantum-computing applications.
- Design and optimize analog and mixed-signal circuits using advanced CMOS technologies.
- Translate system and quantum hardware requirements into ASIC integration plans.
- Identify technical risks and implement mitigation and risk-reduction studies.
- Collaborate with system architects and cross-functional teams on subsystem impacts and architecture.
- Design layouts for schematic blocks and ensure compliance with design requirements and manufacturing constraints.
- Support verification at block, subsystem, and full-chip levels; co-author test plans and participate in silicon bring-up.
- Deploy and test ASICs in challenging environments (cryogenic, ultra-high vacuum) and contribute technical guidance to product/process improvements.
Requirements
Key requirements and clear must-haves for the role.
- Must-have: 5+ years of IC design experience in a design engineering or R&D organization.
- Must-have: 5+ years of transistor-level design and simulation experience using EDA tools.
- Must-have: 3+ years working with analog ASIC technologies development and verification.
- Must-have: Eligible to work as a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or green card holder).
- Must-have: Candidates who are nationals of the Peoples Republic of China or Russia are not eligible unless also U.S. citizens.
- Technical skills: Strong analog CMOS circuit design knowledge, IC layout and high-density routing, and experience with power/performance/area trade-offs.
- Desirable: Experience with ASICs for cryogenic environments and high-voltage analog design.
- Desirable: Demonstrated communication skills and leadership in cross-functional teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field is required.
