RTL Design Jobs, Level - Mid-Career

Job Title

AI SoC Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and implement RTL microarchitecture for system-on-chip (SoC) blocks within Intel's AI SoC organization. Work with IP providers and cross-functional teams to integrate blocks, meet functional and performance goals, and deliver production-ready designs.

Responsibilities span microarchitecture definition, RTL coding and simulation, design-quality ownership, and collaboration with verification, firmware, and physical design teams to meet timing, area, and power targets.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically candidates have multiple years of relevant industry or research experience (commonly 4+ years of experience in RTL/SoC design).

Responsibilities

Key day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Define microarchitecture and implement RTL for SoC blocks.
  • Develop, code, and simulate RTL (SystemVerilog) to meet functional and performance targets.
  • Integrate third-party and internal IP into the SoC and resolve integration issues.
  • Collaborate with verification, firmware, and physical design teams to ensure functional correctness and meet timing/area/power goals.
  • Own design quality aspects such as clock/reset domains, power domain crossings, and timing constraints.
  • Drive high-quality handoffs to partner teams (verification, physical design, firmware, packaging).
  • Contribute to next-generation architecture discussions and trade-off decisions.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Proven RTL design, coding, and simulation experience using SystemVerilog.
  • Experience with microarchitecture and SoC architecture design.
  • Understanding of system-level design principles and trade-offs for power, performance, and area.
  • Experience collaborating with verification, firmware, and physical design teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with AI model implications for hardware architecture.
  • Experience implementing clock/reset and power domain crossings both logically and physically.
  • Strong communication skills and a track record of delivering high-quality designs on schedule.

Education Requirements

Minimum qualifications reference formal degrees: Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. (The original posting specifies 4+ years with a Bachelor's, 2+ years with a Master's, or a PhD.)
