Advanced Development Engineer, Networking Architecture

Role Summary

The Advanced Development team explores new networking technologies through proof-of-concept implementations and architectural simulation to inform pre-silicon design decisions. You will run experiments, build and extend an in-house architecture simulator, and work with ASIC and software teams to convert findings into actionable design choices.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include prototyping, simulation, and documenting technical findings.

• Implement proof-of-concept features to evaluate new technologies, protocols, and architectural approaches.
• Develop and extend an in-house architecture simulator used for pre-silicon exploration and modeling.
• Collaborate with ASIC architects and R&D to translate architectural decisions into working prototypes.
• Document experimental outcomes and convert results into actionable team recommendations.
• Identify promising technologies and opportunities aligned with the networking roadmap.
• Create AI and agentic frameworks to support the Architecture Group.
• Turn open-ended technical questions into working code and repeatable experiments.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications describe the minimum practical skills and experience; nice-to-have items increase likelihood of success.

Must-have:

• 3+ years experience in firmware, embedded systems, drivers, or systems programming.
• Strong coding skills with ability to implement prototypes from scratch.
• Ability to work independently, reason through ambiguity, and convert experimental results into actionable insights.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience writing firmware or low-level C/C++ code.
• Intellectual curiosity about hardware-software interaction in the networking stack.
• Experience with networking protocols such as Ethernet, IP, or data-center fabrics.

Education Requirements

B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering (or equivalent practical experience). Relevant coursework or projects in computer architecture, simulation, or performance modeling are beneficial.
