Job Title
Advanced ASIC FPGA Engineer - EW Applications
Role Summary
Design, implement, verify, and support FPGA and ASIC solutions for electronic warfare (EW) systems within a defense program. Collaborate with systems, hardware, and software engineers to define FPGA architectures and integrate designs into lab-based testbeds.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Typical background: 5+ years of relevant engineering experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of related experience.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on the end-to-end FPGA/ASIC development lifecycle and lab integration.
- Design, develop, simulate, and verify FPGA designs using industry-standard HDLs.
- Define FPGA/ASIC architectures, module interfaces, and perform system-level simulation.
- Create test and simulation plans; verify test results and analyze performance.
- Support synthesis, place-and-route, timing closure, and power/utilization analysis.
- Integrate and debug FPGA designs in the lab; collaborate with hardware and software teams for system bring-up.
- Participate in design reviews and produce technical documentation.
- Evaluate vendor/foundry technologies and device libraries as needed.
- Support proposal activities and new business efforts when required.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, clearances, and eligibility.
- Proficiency in HDL-based FPGA development and simulation (e.g., Verilog/SystemVerilog, VHDL).
- Experience with FPGA/ASIC toolflow: simulation, synthesis, place-and-route, timing and power analysis.
- Practical experience with lab integration, hardware bring-up, and in-system debug.
- Ability to produce technical documentation and participate in design reviews.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance within a reasonable time after hire.
- U.S. citizenship is required due to classified work.
- Preferred: prior experience supporting Electronic Warfare (EW) programs.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics field. Alternatively, a Master's degree plus 3 years of related experience, or 5+ years of equivalent practical job-related experience may satisfy the requirement. U.S. citizenship and eligibility for DoD Secret clearance are required.
