Academic/Outreach Senior Associate

Role Summary

Work with university educators to increase long-term adoption of Synopsys tools in undergraduate and graduate electronics engineering programs. The role combines curriculum development, technical training, and relationship building with professors, researchers, and student teams to integrate simulation tools into coursework and research.

Experience Level

Senior. Typical experience guidance: Bachelor's degree plus 3+ years relevant electronics engineering experience, or a Master's degree with 1+ year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on curriculum and academic engagement to drive tool adoption and gather product feedback.

  • Create curriculum materials, tutorials, lecture content, and learning pathways for electronics simulation courses.
  • Work directly with professors, researchers, and student teams to integrate Ansys HFSS, Maxwell, and related tools into courses and projects.
  • Deliver workshops, guest lectures, webinars, and hands-on training both on campus and online.
  • Collaborate with academic field sales, application engineers, and product teams to align content with customer feedback and product capabilities.
  • Collect and report educator and student feedback to inform sales, marketing, and product teams.
  • Represent the company at academic conferences and events to present technical content and build relationships.
  • Support broader Academic Program initiatives and team projects as needed.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical abilities for effective academic engagement.

  • Hands-on experience with Ansys HFSS or similar commercial electromagnetics simulation tools, including finite element analysis for high- or low-frequency applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Experience creating instructional or training materials and delivering technical workshops or lectures (industry or academic settings).
  • Ability to work across time zones and collaborate with engineers, educators, and researchers from varied backgrounds.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically up to ~40% for campus visits, conferences, and training events.
  • Nice-to-have: exposure to Ansys Maxwell, experience presenting at technical conferences, and prior teaching or teaching-assistant experience.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with 3+ years of relevant industry or academic experience, or a Master's degree with 1+ year of relevant experience. A PhD in electrical engineering, electromagnetics, or a related discipline is listed as a strong plus.
