Role Overview

The Staff Silicon Design Engineer (FEINT) will be integral to AMD's engineering team focused on enhancing the development of MI/Navi series GPU products. This role requires an adaptive and self-motivated individual who can drive technical innovation and is committed to continuous improvement.

Role Summary

As a member of the Frontend Integration Engineering team, you will collaborate with various engineering staff across different locations, driving design synthesis, analysis, and implementation to meet company goals. This role is essential to ensure AMD's competitive advantage in the semiconductor industry.

Experience Level

This position fits within the Level - Mid-Career category, suitable for individuals with demonstrated experience in semiconductor design and engineering roles.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Design synthesis of logical and physical design blocks.
  • Conduct design analysis to verify functionality, performance, and area requirements.
  • Define synthesis design constraints and address STA issues.
  • Perform timing analysis and provide recommendations for fixing timing violations.
  • Complete design and data quality checks.
  • Collaborate with RTL engineers to resolve timing issues.
  • Drive evaluation of new tools and refine methodologies.
  • Develop scripts for ECO generation for timing closure and implementation.
  • Implement low power optimizations.
  • Automate daily tasks and conduct data analysis through scripting.

Requirements

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • Experience with EDA tools, such as Fusion Compiler, Prime Time, and others.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as TCL, Shell, Perl, Python.
  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments and system-level design.
  • Strong knowledge of Verilog and System Verilog.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to independently manage tasks and deliver high-quality results in a timely manner.

Education Requirements

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering is required.
