Job Title

SoftIP Verification Engineer

Role Summary

As an IP Design Verification Engineer within Intel's Central Engineering Group, you will verify complex IP microarchitectural features, develop and maintain verification methodologies and infrastructure, and work with architects, RTL and physical design teams to ensure IP quality for product integration.

Work includes developing verification plans, creating testbenches and test cases, running system simulations, debugging presilicon issues, and mentoring junior engineers.

Experience Level

Senior — 9+ years of IP functional verification experience (per minimum qualifications).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute verification plans aligned to microarchitecture specifications.
  • Create and maintain testbenches, test environments, and test cases to achieve coverage goals.
  • Perform system simulations and analyze functionality, power, timing, and performance.
  • Identify, reproduce, root-cause and debug presilicon issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with architects, RTL developers, and physical design teams to verify complex IP features.
  • Document verification strategies and participate in technical reviews.
  • Enhance and maintain functional verification infrastructure and methodologies (OVM/UVM).
  • Mentor and lead junior engineers and contribute to team practices.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • 9+ years of IP functional verification experience.
  • Proficiency in SystemVerilog and Python.
  • Strong knowledge of IP validation tools and methodologies; experience with OVM/UVM environments.
  • Experience in test planning, test content development, and test fixture design.
  • Familiarity with hardware simulation, microarchitecture fundamentals, and digital design principles.
  • Proven ability to debug and validate complex architectural and microarchitectural features.
  • Experience leading by example and mentoring junior engineers.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with hardware security validation.
  • Experience in formal verification methodologies.
  • Knowledge of design-for-verification (DFV) principles.
  • Experience maintaining and improving verification infrastructure.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required (stated in minimum qualifications).
