Role Summary
The SMTS Silicon Design Engineer at Advanced Micro Devices is responsible for researching, designing, developing, and testing electronic components and systems for semiconductor manufacturing. This role involves leading the definition, design, verification, and documentation for ASIC development, determining architecture design, and defining module interfaces for simulation.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- Leading the development of multidimensional designs involving the layout of complex integrated circuits.
- Evaluating aspects of the design process from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing/power analysis.
- Collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to develop ASIC/layout designs.
- Driving projects of significant technical importance and exercising independent judgment in selecting methods and evaluation criteria.
- Applying engineering principles and best practices to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.
Requirements
Candidates must possess the following qualifications:
Education Requirements
- Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with six (6) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in a closely related engineering role will be accepted.
Also required is four (4) years of experience in the following areas:
- Performing hardware, software, or design verification.
- Writing test components in Verilog, VHDL, or SystemVerilog.
- Verifying complex designs using methodologies such as UVM, OVM, or VMM.
- Utilizing design flows and methodologies used for chip verification.
- Scripting in Python, Perl, Ruby, Makefile, or shell.
- Debugging firmware and RTL code using simulation tools.
- Familiarity with industry-standard high-speed protocols such as PCIe, SATA, USB, or Ethernet.
