Job Title
Senior-Staff Digital SoC Product Development and Test Engineer (Test Program Owner)
Role Summary
Responsible for characterization and development of cost-effective manufacturing test solutions for leading-edge Qualcomm SoC products using advanced ATE platforms. The role owns creation of characterization and test plans, ATE test/program development, first‑silicon bring-up and debug, failure analysis, yield analysis and test-time reduction.
Works closely with IC design, system engineering, DFT/DV, and hardware applications teams across global sites in time-critical NPI and volume-ramp environments.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical candidate has approximately 8+ years of related experience and experience in a technical leadership role.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities focus on test development, qualification, and yield optimization for SoC products.
- Develop characterization and manufacturing test plans for SoC products.
- Specify test hardware requirements and implement ATE tests, routines and programs to execute test plans.
- Lead first-silicon bring-up and debug for chips fabricated at external foundries.
- Perform technical data analysis of parametric performance and drive failure analysis to closure.
- Analyze high-volume manufacturing yields and implement strategies to reduce test time and improve yield.
- Innovate test solutions and optimize ATE deployment from NPI through volume ramp.
- Coordinate cross-functional work with IC design, DFT/DV, system engineering and manufacturing teams globally.
- Document test procedures and results; communicate findings to technical and program stakeholders.
Requirements
Key technical skills and experience required and preferred.
-
Must-have: Strong, hands-on knowledge of ATE platforms and test development workflows; experience developing ATE SOC programs from NPI to volume ramp.
-
Must-have: Solid understanding of semiconductor structural testing (scan, memory BIST) and functional test methodologies; strong electronics fundamentals.
-
Must-have: Experience performing technical data/statistical analysis and familiarity with quality and reliability testing practices.
-
Must-have: Proficiency with collaboration/version-control tools such as GIT, SVN and issue tracking (e.g. JIRA).
-
Must-have: Strong software skills for test-program development and debugging (examples: C/C++, Java, Python, Perl, Visual Basic).
-
Must-have: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to document work and influence cross-functional teams.
-
Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with Advantest 93K ATE.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with chiplet-based or multi-die products and die-to-die interface issues.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Job posting also lists common alternative combinations: Bachelor's + ~4+ years, Master’s + ~3+ years, or PhD + ~2+ years of relevant hardware engineering experience.
