Role Overview

As a Senior PIC Design Engineer at Marvell Technology, you will be instrumental in developing Silicon Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) that directly interact with advanced ASICs. This role involves critical design and layout responsibilities as part of an evolving technology landscape.

Position Summary

This position requires substantial collaboration and technical expertise in the design and validation of complex photonic systems. You will engage with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure optimal performance of PICs from initial concept through to the final product.

Experience Level

The ideal candidate should possess at least a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 1-3 years of relevant experience, or a Master's or PhD without professional experience. Familiarity with integrated photonics is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Design and layout large-scale Silicon Photonic ICs, ensuring they meet the necessary interfacing requirements with ASICs.
  • Take part in PIC delivery processes, focusing on various project stages from floor-planning to micro-architecture and layout verification.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in analog and digital domains to comply with opto-electronic performance and integrity standards.
  • Enhance layout flows and support automation through existing design software.

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Proficiency with Silicon Photonics Design Kits and layout practices.
  • Experience in design tools such as Cadence, Siemens Mentor, or Klayout.
  • Skills in layout verification tools including Calibre or Pegasus.
  • Knowledge in signal integrity and power integrity routing is highly valued.
  • Strong analytical skills, a detail-oriented approach, and a collaborative spirit.

Education Requirements

Relevant educational qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Candidates with a Master's degree or PhD are encouraged to apply as well.
