Senior Equipment & Process (Molding)
Role Summary
Responsible for developing, sustaining, and improving molding processes and equipment for semiconductor backend assembly in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Provides technical leadership to ensure process robustness, equipment performance, yield improvement and successful ramp to high-volume manufacturing.
Supports new product introduction, process qualification, troubleshooting and continuous improvement across cross-functional teams.
Experience Level
Senior; minimum 5 years of semiconductor manufacturing experience with a strong focus on molding processes and equipment.
Responsibilities
The role's primary responsibilities include:
- Develop, characterize, optimize and sustain molding processes and equipment.
- Own molding process performance, yield and equipment stability in production.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance within cross-functional teams.
- Support new product introduction, process qualification and ramp to high-volume manufacturing.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve yield, quality, reliability, throughput and cost efficiency.
- Identify integration risks and define mitigation plans using structured engineering methods.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to compound behavior, tooling and equipment interactions.
- Collaborate with Process, Equipment, QA, R&D, NPI, Product Design and Reliability teams.
- Support molding compound selection, evaluation and change management.
- Maintain SOPs, process specifications, control plans, FMEAs and technical reports.
- Contribute to technology and package roadmaps through benchmarking and data-driven recommendations.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred skills, tools and attributes:
- Must: Minimum 5 years semiconductor manufacturing experience focused on molding processes and equipment.
- Must: Strong understanding of backend assembly molding processes including compound flow, curing behavior and defect mechanisms.
- Must: Hands-on experience with molding tooling and practical troubleshooting experience.
- Must: Familiarity with statistical and quality methods such as Six Sigma, DOE, SPC, FMEA and 8D.
- Must: Strong analytical, troubleshooting and structured problem-solving skills; good command of English and effective cross-functional communication.
- Preferred: Experience with Lauffer molding systems and BIM production lines.
- Preferred: PLC knowledge or system-level understanding.
- Preferred: Self-motivated, proactive, customer-focused with strong ownership mindset.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline is required.
