Principal CAD Engineer, Central Engineering

Role Summary

The Principal CAD Engineer will collaborate with various design and verification teams at Micron to enhance design verification flow development and implementation. This role supports cross-functional teams to optimize cost, quality, reliability, time-to-market, and customer satisfaction.

Experience Level

Mid-level, with at least 5 years of industry experience desired.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing tools, flows, and methodologies to enhance memory design productivity and reliability.
• Integrating commercial EDA tools into design flows.
• Training, documenting, and supporting end users on new tools and methods.
• Collaborating with design, layout, verification, and process teams.
• Tracking and resolving issues.
• Conducting independent research and development of next-generation CAD software.
• Evaluating internal customer needs and defining improvement flows.
• Maintaining design infrastructure at optimum levels.

Requirements

Essential qualifications include:

• Strong programming skills in Unix and shell scripting.
• Knowledge of CMOS circuits, physical design, and layout design rules.
• Experience with layout flows including Calibre DRC/LVS and automated P&R.
• Familiarity with design simulation tools and languages such as Verilog and HSPICE.
• Fluent communication in English for collaboration with global teams.
• Experience with RTL-to-GDS flows.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Experience with Cadence Virtuoso DFII and SKILL programming.
• Proficiency in Python and Python Qt frameworks.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
