Role Summary
The Power and Performance Engineer will be a key contributor to a team focused on enhancing AMD's capabilities in delivering high-quality technologies. The position entails engaging in adaptive and proactive design verification, essential for advancing modern processor architecture and digital design.
Experience Level
We are looking for candidates who are experienced in design verification, particularly those with a foundational understanding and a passion for computer architecture.
Responsibilities
The individual in this role will be responsible for:
- Developing and maintaining tests for functional and performance verification at the core level.
- Building testbench components to support next-generation intellectual property (IP).
- Maintaining and improving test libraries supporting IP-level testing.
- Creating hardware emulation builds to validate IP functional performance.
- Improving the hardware emulation environment to enhance runtime performance and debugging capabilities.
- Providing technical support to other engineering teams.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Familiarity with Verilog/SystemVerilog, Python, and Shell scripts.
- A solid understanding of PPA trade-offs, dynamic and leakage power dissipation, and low-power design techniques.
- Knowledge of CPU, GPU, IO architecture, and general computer system architecture.
- Experience with EDA power simulation tools like VCS-NLP simulations and Primetime PX.
- Familiarity with UVM-based verification environments and power/performance test scenarios.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Education Requirements
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering is required.
