Role Summary

The Physical Design Engineer Intern position is designed for students currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. The role’s primary focus is gaining hands-on experience in semiconductor physical design, working closely with various professional teams in the semiconductor design process.

Experience Level

This opportunity is targeted towards interns who are early in their careers and may not have prior physical design experience. Candidates should have a foundational understanding of related engineering principles and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in the semiconductor physical design process, with focus areas like Place+Route and Timing Analysis.
  • Utilize industry-standard EDA tools from Cadence, Synopsys, and Siemens to complete assigned projects.
  • Write scripts in Python, TCL, Perl, and UNIX Shell for design and development activities to enhance workflows.
  • Participate in training sessions and receive mentorship from assigned engineering professionals during the internship.
  • Collaborate with other interns and engage in various team activities and projects.

Requirements

Candidates must be pursuing a BS/MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a relevant technical field. Experience in a Unix environment and programming skills in Python and TCL are essential. Strong problem-solving and communication skills, along with attention to detail and self-motivation, will also be key attributes sought in applicants.
