Role Summary

The Physical Design Engineer II position at SpaceX focuses on developing advanced ASIC designs for both space and ground infrastructures. The engineer will be part of a cross-disciplinary team responsible for enhancing Starlink’s capabilities and ensuring connectivity globally.

Experience Level

This position requires a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in RTL to GDSII physical design and/or development of physical design flows.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct partition synthesis and complete various physical implementation steps, including synthesis, floorplanning, and timing analysis.
  • Enhance physical design methodologies and automate processes through scripting.
  • Collaborate with ASIC teams to assess architectural feasibility and refine design targets.
  • Identify and resolve design and timing issues throughout the development process.
  • Debug and resolve signoff closure issues in static timing analysis and other verification processes.

Requirements

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science. Experience with EDA tools and a solid understanding of CMOS and FinFET technologies are important. Proficiency in scripting languages is required, and candidates must be self-motivated and a team player.
