Role Overview

The Mixed Signal Circuit Design Analysis & CAD Engineer will operate within a small team at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). This role focuses on evaluating Analog Mixed Signal design components from AMD’s external partners while ensuring alignment with AMD’s specifications and chip design protocols.

Position Summary

This position encompasses working on Analog Mixed Signal Integrated Circuit designs relative to various specifications. The engineer will engage with design processes, enhance toolsets for design review, and assist in resolving issues before chip manufacturing, thereby playing a critical role in the development lifecycle of hardware products.

Level of Experience

This role requires a motivated individual with a foundational understanding of mixed signal IP design and analysis. Both entry- and mid-career professionals with relevant skills in electrical engineering are encouraged to apply.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Understand the hardware chip development lifecycle and perform layout vs. schematic comparisons.
  • Analyze the performance of Analog/Digital Mixed Signal designs and contribute to their integration into AMD products.
  • Review flagged design issues and determine necessary fixes.
  • Develop and enhance scripts for automating design analysis workflows.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors on design improvements and with AMD engineers globally.
  • Utilize software automation in the analysis processes and industry-standard verification tools for pre-manufacturing checks.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a blend of hardware knowledge and software skills, specifically:

  • Understanding of analog and digital electronics and their performance characteristics.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or TCL.
  • Proven capability in electronic design automation tools.
  • Basic command line and UNIX/Linux proficiency.
  • Interest or experience in transistor-level circuit design and layouts.

Education Requirements

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering is essential for this role.
