Engineer - Tapeout Engineering

Role Summary

Join the Global Tapeout and Mask Organization in Bangalore to coordinate tapeout operations and deliver defect-free, timely mask and tapeout services for foundry customers. The role works across design, product, release, manufacturing and field teams to provide DRC services, debug verification failures, manage tapeout logistics and support continuous improvement and automation efforts.

Experience Level

Entry-level. The posting targets new college graduates.

Responsibilities

The engineer will support tapeout execution, verification and logistics with a focus on quality and cycle-time reduction.

  • Provide DRC (design-rule-check) services and assist customers and internal teams with DRC queries and debugging of failures.
  • Submit and review design waivers and step/ frame solutions as required for tapeout.
  • Perform PE logistics setup and reviews to facilitate tapeout operations for product teams.
  • Support ad-hoc DRC and tapeout requests from fabs and field engineers during tapeout activities.
  • Collaborate with worldwide TLI and DTM leadership to define and implement process improvements that reduce cycle time and cost.
  • Support automation and continuous improvement projects to improve turnaround time and operational efficiency.
  • Perform work in compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security policies.

  • Must-have: Ability to work flexible/unsociable hours throughout the year; strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Nice-to-have: Exposure to semiconductor process or layout design engineering; familiarity with EDA physical verification tools (Mentor Graphics, Cadence, Synopsys); scripting skills (Perl, Tcl/Tk, Python, Linux shell); strong analytical, data-analysis and presentation skills; proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint; ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers across cultures.

Education Requirements

Master's degree (MS / M.Tech) or Bachelor's degree (B.E. / B.Tech) in Electronics Engineering, VLSI, Microelectronics, semiconductor-related engineering or a related physical science from a recognized institution. The role is open to new college graduates.
