Job Title

ASIC Implementation Engineer

Role Summary

Join Broadcom's ASIC Products Division as a physical design/implementation engineer focused on taking netlists to silicon for next-generation AI designs. The role centers on physical design, timing closure, place-and-route, and working with IC design RTL engineers to achieve tape-out.

This is an on-site position based at Broadcom's San Jose campus; remote work is not permitted.

Experience Level

Senior — 8+ years of relevant physical-design or ASIC implementation experience.

Responsibilities

The engineer will deliver physical design deliverables and closure for complex ASICs, contribute to flows and methodology, and coordinate with RTL designers.

  • Execute physical design flow from floorplanning through tape-out (place & route, DRC/LVS coordination).
  • Perform timing closure, including top-level STA strategies and optimizations.
  • Implement clock tree synthesis; optimize insertion, skew balancing, and custom clock trees.
  • Conduct EM/IR analysis and sign-off activities.
  • Develop and improve implementation flows and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with RTL/logic designers to resolve implementation and timing issues.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • Proven experience across the full physical-design cycle (RTL to tape-out).
  • Strong proficiency with industry EDA tools for implementation, STA, and sign-off.
  • Scripting skills (TCL, Perl) for automation and flow development.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve timing closure at the block and top level.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for cross-team collaboration.

Education Requirements
