Job Title

ASIC Engineering Technical Leader

Role Summary

The ASIC Engineering Technical Leader will lead Design-for-Test (DFT) solutions for next-generation optical communications ASICs within Cisco/Acacia. The role focuses on defining and implementing DFT architectures, ensuring test readiness from RTL through post-silicon validation, and integrating DFT into subsystems.

Experience Level

Senior — experience equivalent to Bachelor's +8 years, Master's +6 years, or PhD +3 years in ASIC development.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing and validating DFT for high-speed optical ASICs and coordinating implementation across design and test teams.

  • Lead design and implementation of DFT architectures, including scan insertion and memory BIST.
  • Perform ATPG test pattern generation for multiple fault models and support post-silicon validation.
  • Evaluate design readiness for scan insertion using RTL and physical-design DRC checks.
  • Integrate and verify DFT IP and fabrics within subsystems.
  • Run and debug gate-level simulations; troubleshoot timing and clock-domain crossing issues.
  • Collaborate with ATE/test teams for silicon testing and validation.
  • Develop and automate test and validation flows using scripting languages.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Proven experience in DFT architecture, scan insertion, memory BIST, and ATPG.
  • Hands-on experience with Siemens Tessent or Synopsys DFT toolflows.
  • Proficiency in RTL design and debugging using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
  • Experience generating ATPG patterns and supporting post-silicon test validation.
  • Experience with gate-level simulation and debugging; familiarity with CDC and timing issues.
  • Experience working with ATE testers and coordinating test activities.
  • Strong scripting/automation skills (Python, Tcl, or C++).

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with advanced high-speed, low-power silicon processes.
  • Subsystem integration experience for optical communications products.

Education Requirements

The posting specifies degree-and-experience combinations: a Bachelor's degree with 8 years of ASIC experience, a Master's degree with 6 years of ASIC experience, or a PhD with 3 years of ASIC experience. No specific academic field or certifications were listed beyond ASIC experience.
