ASIC Design Engineer II

Role Overview

The ASIC Design Engineer II will work with the Cloud-Scale Machine Learning Acceleration team at Amazon, focusing on the design and optimization of hardware for AWS machine learning servers, such as AWS Inferentia. This role involves ensuring high design quality while making critical trade-offs in performance and power efficiency.

Experience Level

This position is geared towards candidates with a strong background in ASIC design, requiring at least 3 years of relevant design or architecture experience.

Key Responsibilities

As an ASIC Design Engineer, your main responsibilities will include:

• Developing and implementing efficient RTL designs that meet project specifications.
• Conducting thorough analyses of designs and microarchitectures for optimization.
• Creating microarchitectures and delivering synthesis and timing-clean designs.
• Performing quality checks to ensure design integrity.
• Working closely with cross-functional teams including architects, designers, and validation teams.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate must possess proficiency in SystemVerilog along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience with high-performance designs is highly desirable.

Education Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. A Master's degree is preferred, alongside experience in the full software development life cycle.
